Restaurant

This acclaimed chowder house overlooking Narragansett Bay serves seafood & deep-fried dough.

I love Iggy’s but have only been to the Oakland Beach location until now, and this one did not disappoint. Located between Scarborough, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Roger Wheeler beaches, this is an excellent option for lunch or a snack after a beach day. It’s the best clam shack in the area in my opinion, beating out Aunt Carrie’s and Benny’s by a hair (you can’t really go wrong with any in my opinion) due to the lower prices. You may have a bit of a wait, but they move fast. There’s indoor and outdoor seating options, although you may have to wait a bit due to the popularity of Iggy’s. As with their other location, the menu is extensive, affordable, and includes all the Iggy classics.

Our local seafood restaurants are closed for the season but we were in the mood for cakes and chowder. Haven't been here since 2019 so decided to go for the ride. Ordered the white chowder which was thick and chunky with lots of clams and potatoes. Clam cakes are awesome, light and fluffy with real clams inside. I got the stuffy which was just okay. The texture was more like bread crumbs and lacking in spices.Next time we will try the red chowder and definitely get more clam cakes.

This place was a great find! You must eat a doughboy here as they are magnificent! The food is amazing as well with a large selection of sandwiches and a good kids menu too! Plus they had an outdoor seating area that is somewhat private. I will definitely be back!

They make you order outside even if you're dining inside. I asked the woman at the window if there is ketchup inside on the table she said yes. Then there wasn't and she told me to go outside and get it even though she was standing right in front of ketchup packets and I had given her an over 20% tip. The white chowder has a heavy black pepper taste. The clams in the clam cakes are the rubberiest I have ever had. Have definitely had better in Rhode Island. Probably won't return.

Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House inNarragansett, RI was just perfect for lunch. Their New England clam chowder was creamy and delicious. As well as their fried clams, fried shrimp and lobster rolls. The service was quick, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. You have a choice to sit inside or outside to enjoy this wonderful meal.

Brought my family from Colombia here for lunch to eat and show them what we usually have every summer after the beach every summer as tradition. They absolutely loved it! The fish and chips, the clam cakes, the salad, the white clam chowder, everything, nothing was leftover! Always a great time ❤️

We recently dropped by Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, and overall, we had a pretty good experience. We decided to go for the classic combo of Spicy Chicken Wings and French Fries, and we were pleasantly surprised. Now, let's talk about the ambiance. The place wasn't air-conditioned, and they had these old 19th-century fans hanging from the ceiling. It did get a bit warm in there, especially on a hot day, but we appreciated the effort to keep it cool with those fans. The seating area was okay, nothing too fancy. It seemed like they could use some sprucing up to make it more inviting, but hey, we were there for the food, not the decor. On the bright side, the bathroom was clean, and that's always a plus in our book.Okay, let's get to the star of the show - the food! The Spicy Chicken Wings were on point. They had that perfect amount of spice and flavor that left us wanting more. And those French Fries! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just the way we like 'em.One thing we loved about Iggy's is that it's an excellent spot for a quick bite. You can grab your food and be on your way to the next sightseeing adventure in no time. All in all, if you're looking for a fancy, air-conditioned restaurant, this might not be the place for you. But if you want some tasty eats in a laid-back atmosphere and you're willing to overlook the not-so-fancy setup, give Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House a shot. The food makes it all worthwhile, and it's a convenient stop when you're out and about exploring the town.

We ordered a little bit of everything! Definitely will be coming back for the Doughboy donuts! Absolutely love the classic flavor with sugar / powder! SO SO GOOD! Cinnamon was right next.Love the Creamy Clam Chowder more than the non creamy version. Curly Fries is a must! Definitely coming back to try the lobster roll & calamari, they look phenomenal! Not a fan of clam cake, but that might be personal.

This place has always been on my list and it was worth the trek! My favorites were the clam fritters and the sugared doughboys. Swoon worthy when piping hot. The hot and cold lobster rolls were decent but not my favorites- though the buns were nicely toasted with salted butter the way I like them. When in the area, I will be back.

The food was delicious! The prices especially for seafood was fairly priced, though they had other options as well. Very clean and staff was well groomed and friendly! They even had a fire going on a chilly spring day. Was my first time there and I would highly recommend!

Being a transplant to Rhode Island; just about everyone says to go to "Iggy's." Unfortunately, each time I attempted to during this past summer, the line was literally out the door. My chance to experience Iggy's finally happened recently, and I was not disappointed. My meal was prepared promptly and brought out hot. Special regards to Jen, my server, who was pleasant and helpful. I now know why this particular spot is so very popular, and I will be returning for more of their absolutely delicious seafood. Try it just once, and I'm sure that you will most likely return. Thoroughly enjoyable!!

So we’ve been here a few time and it’s just OK. I hear other rave about it but I don’t know why other than it’s near the beach. There was a long line to order and it did not move fast. Though it was not their fault, the fire alarm when off and they had to temporarily stop business just as I swiped my card to pay. They shut the order window on me and we stood there for 20 minutes with no explanation as what to expect. The fire department showed up and service resumed shortly after. I feel someone should have informed patrons what was going on much sooner. The inside dining area was 90 degrees so we ate outside. There is also limited outdoor seating. We had a party of 6 and could not sit together. My wife had a lobster roll dinner which she said was OK. I had clam cakes and chowder. Clam cakes where Ok. Kind of hard to mess those up. The clear chowder was not good. I think it was chicken broth with potatoes and a few clams. For $50 I expected a little better.

I was very excited to try this iconic clam shack. I ordered the fisherman’s platter. I never would’ve thought I was steps away from the ocean from the selection of the items in the platter. The fish was deeply battered, and very greasy laid upon all of the fries so they absorbed all of that grease. The two clam cakes did not have one single clam. The whole belly clams were the smallest I’ve ever had. The scallops were teeny tiny bay scallops. With the platter you can have a salad or chowder. I selected, clear chowder, which was basically all potato, the few clams were crumbs; chopped so tiny. Very disappointed in this $30 platter. Also asked for cocktail sauce rather than tarter. Unfortunately this request was not made.

Such a cozy place in the cold season with the fireplace! I would love to come back in the summer and experience the busy season, seems like such a fun place. The food what absolutely delicious and with the price! Very close to the ocean as well, would be a nice lunch walk th the summer.

Super busy and very popular... it's great for a pit stop if you're looking for fried treats. The cost is terrifying unless you ready yourself... the lobster bisque at nearly 30 bucks a quarter, which was priced very high, but it is so worth it 👌 I've never had it's equal yet and placed at the top of best I've ever had. The fritters "clam cakes," which drew us there, were good but slightly sandy... I don't mind some grit, but after dropping almost a Bennie, I'd like my food without the off-putting crunches. P.s. they only have ketchup out. You need to ask for sauces like tartar which is Ken's... on the whole I'd go again but seriously bring lots of money.

Worst chowder I have ever had in my life.. no salt no seasoning. Taste like straight water with potatoes and clams. Old mountain lanes is killing you in the chowder game. Fish has a lot of brown and not white like haddock or cod. Maybe it’s a sunfish. Will never order from here again until they step their game up. Surprised your still in business

Such a guilty pleasure and they nail every menu item, hot, tasty, perfectly cooked. Other seafood “shacks “ (btw, Narragansett location is no shack) can’t compare and should take lessons from Iggy’s on how to deliver great, hot, fried seafood fast. Take note, both the cake and chowder have considerable amount of clams. Someday I’ll try the doughboys

Lobster roll platter with New England Clam Chowder and fries, Fried Clam Strips, Clam cakes, Doughboys and locally made Root Beer! Food was delicious, filling and quick to come outWe had a issue with our order at first, double lobster, no strips. We also ordered a 6 piece dough boy, but only received 3 with unexpected clam cakes. The order was fixed (partially) but it seems like workers need to slow down a bit 😬.Seating is limited to about 8 picnic benches and 4 tables (covered)Free on street parking unless you are lucky enough to grab a spot at the restaurant

Great lobster roll and quick service. Thick clam chowder was tasty! Worth a stop for some classic New England seafood.

Great seafood! Ordered the lobster roll platter. It came with fries, Cole slaw and clam chowder. Also ordered the clam strips and some clam cakes. Food was delicious and food was made pretty quickly. I was given the wrong order at first but I brought it back to cashier and they fixed it pretty quickly only had to wait a few minutes. Definitely would visit again if in the area.

I have been to this place many times before. One of the best Rhode Island’s must eat at spot. Usually the line is out to the street but went there at the end of the season on week day 😬 their clam cakes and white chowder is one of the best if not the best in RI. Nice menu, seafood options and other items all reasonably priced. Close by the beach, we can’t ask for more 🫡 a happy customer here
