Born Anna Mae Bullock, Turner began her career with future husband Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm in 1957. In 1960, she was introduced as Tina Turner with the hit single "A Fool in Love." The duo went on to become one of the most formidable live acts in history releasing hits such as "It's Gonna Work Out Fine" and the Grammy-winning "Proud Mary" before disbanding in 1976 as Turner left their abusive marriage.

Turner also acted in the films Tommy, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Last Action Hero.

The shorter the better! The singer showed off her famous legs in a mini-dress while performing in 1970.

On January 11, 1970, Turner performed "Proud Mary" on The Ed Sullivan Show in her signature fringed mini dress.

In November 1972, Turner performed in Paris wearing a sexy halter dress, silver strappy sandals and her hair long and straight.
